The Stallions of
Bar None Morgan Ranch

Morgan Stallions
Morgan Stallions are one of the marvels of the horse world. Their dispositions, quietness, willingness, and versatility are legendary. Their stamina coupled with a willing spirit make the Morgan a ‘horse to breed to.’
The stallions we are honored to own carry on the legacy of Justin Morgan. I’ve watched these stallions nose the foals in their herd, nuzzle small children in the pasture, work cattle, and take care of novice riders and then, when asked, put the coal to it and give you their absolute all.
We use our stallions. They are Working Western Morgan Horses. Their steady personality and ability is passed on to their foals.
Standing Morgan Stallions
Bar None Morgan Ranch stands three Morgan stallions; our junior stallion will become a part of our program next spring. Our classic Morgan stallions are TruWest Silver Suede and Bar Non Royal Legend. Our gaited Morgan stallions are Mtn Edge Black Chrome and junior stallion Bar Non Hickory.

Bar Non Royal Legend

TruWest Silver Suede
2008 Smoky Grullo Morgan Stallion
Cream Dilution:N/Cr
Red Factor Agouti:E/e a/a
Tested PMMS Negative

Truwest Silver Suede is our senior stallion. He is a son of S Bar B Pierre Noire ( X Truwest Adobe Rose). In Suede, we have the best of two breeding programs, TruWest Morgans of eastern Montana and the Cross Ranch of Dubois, Wyoming.

Suede has the disposition we demand in a breeding stallion, the size that is necessary in these Working Western Morgan Horses and as a special surprise, the dun gene. He is a grullo, and for those of you who wonder what that is, it is a mouse grey color, the result of the dun gene acting on a black base coat.

Suede stands 15.3 hands; he is massive. He has big, solid bone, a sloping shoulder, and a deep hip. He has the compact, sturdy build of the old-time Morgan cowhorses, horses that had to work cattle while carrying a rider, a western saddle, and a bunch of gear over rough country from first light until dark. He is a real OG Cowboy’s top horse.

Suede carries the cream gene, so he produces some wonderful colored babies. He has sired 109 foals (as of March 2026) including some as far away as Australia. Suede has proven to pass on his outstanding disposition, his compact, powerful build, and his presence.
We offer Suede’s live cover to approved mares, and we offer AI. We ask that you call well in advance to discuss the opportunity to breed to this rare, exceptional, grullo Morgan stallion.

Mtn Edge Black Chrome
2014 Gaited Black Morgan Stallion
Red Factor Agouti: E/e, a/a
Tested PMMS Negative

Over the years some of our mares occasionally produced gaited foals. We weren’t exactly sure where the genetics came from. These gaited Morgan foals were always extremely popular, though very rare.
A number of years ago I decided to add gaited stock to our breeding program. With the help of some knowledgeable breeders, I identified specific bloodlines that produced gaited Morgans.
Historically, the majority of gaited Morgans in the West had come from Utah breeders, notably MaryMel Morgans. Bar None offers the same foundation quality to the Northern Tier, producing high-caliber gaited Morgan Horses on the Wind River in Wyoming.

Mtn Edge Black Chrome is SynchroGait tested A/A. This powerhouse of a black stallion joined our herd in 2016.
Mtn Edge Black Chrome is sired by GRM in the Black. He shows the classic black color, the size, and the conformation of the well-known Grunden Morgans of Curtis, Nebraska. His dam, Mary Mels Swinger, carries a pedigree built on the primary foundation lines of gaited Morgans.

Chrome stands over 15.3 hands with the traits of an awesome head, wide front end, and amazing hindquarters. There is nothing about this stallion you won’t like. What we like most is his quiet and gentle personality.
We thank Jared and Dan Young for allowing us to purchase this beautiful, kind-hearted, black Morgan stallion.

Bar Non Royal Legend
2019 Bay Dun Morgan Stallion
EE, Aa, DD
Tested PMMS Negative

Bar Non Royal Legend is a half-brother to Suede through their dam TruWest Adobe Rose. After many years at Bar None, Adobe was purchased by Rafter Bar D Morgans in Wisconsin. Some time later, Harvey was offered the opportunity to buy Adobe Rose back. She was in foal to Amberfields Blaze N Dun.
We prayed for a homozygous dun colt. And here he is.
Legend inherited his good solid bone structure and his beautiful head from Adobe Rose. He has a long, heavy mane. Gorgeous.

This one has an almost uncanny ability to learn. When he was younger, he was sent to a trainer in Casper, Wyoming. After a month the trainer told Harvey to come and get him. “He knows everything I can teach him,” the trainer said.
Legend works on a completely loose rein, guided only by the lightest leg pressure. He handles superbly.
“He is quiet, user-friendly, easy to handle, easy to train,” Harvey says. “Magnificent.”
Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!

Bar Non Hickory
2025 Gaited Buckskin Morgan Stallion
Cream Dilution: N/Cr
Red Factor Agouti: E/E; A/a
Silver: N/N
Splash: N/SW1; N/N

Bar Non Hickory is our junior stallion. Both of his parents were gaited Morgans.

We expect that Hickory will be a big horse; his sire Westwind Joaquin is 16.1 hh.
Hickory’s mother Paloma is, in Harvey’s words, as sweet as they ever come. When Harvey bought Paloma, she was in foal to Westwind Joaquin.
Hickory is easy to teach; he learns fast and he is willing to try whatever is asked. Hickory will begin his career as a sire of fantastically cool Morgan babies in 2027.
